The people behind the scenes at McIntosh possess a desire to achieve the finest quality standards. McIntosh has defined quality sound reproduction and sets the standards for performance, reliability and service. McIntosh has handcrafted prestige audio products in Binghamton, NY since 1949. Glassfront panels, Output Autoformers®, Blue Watt Meters and Power Guard®are some of the innovations that enhance our product longevity.

McIntosh distinctive tube amps are still manufactured today. Many audio enthusiasts enjoy the warmth of a tube amp. The MC275 celebrates its 50th year in 2011.

A tremendous level of detail goes into the design and construction of a McIntosh product. It can take up to two years from initiating the concept to creating the final product.

PC boards are built in our factory in Binghamton. Two auto insertion machines are used for most boards. Unique boards are delicately crafted by hand.

McIntosh designed its unique Output Autoformer® for use in many solid-state power amplifiers. The manufacturing sequence begins with coil winding techniques that have been used for 50 years.

Power Guard dynamically adjusts the input levels to avoid “clipping” while preventing harsh sounding distortion. The volume adjusts at the speed of light to prevent overdriving.

Sentry Monitor is a fuse-less short circuit which disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating level and resets automatically.
