Krix revolutionised what was achievable for cinema-in-home with the introduction of its MX modular screen speakers system.
The more affordable, physically smaller and arguably more practical MX-5 system, at least when it comes to installation, delivers both an immersive and exciting home theatre listen. The cohesiveness across the soundstage thanks to matching LCR speakers delivers both natural sound, detail and authentic quality.
Alas, I’m left with no choice but to use the term ‘cinematic’, and quite emphatically, when describing the performance of the Krix MX-5 modular screen speaker system.
Don’t skimp on decent amplifiers to power the system, and you’ll experience all of the magic of the cinema in your own home. In my case, the MX-5 system provided one of the most memorable home cinema experiences I’ve ever had. Simply outstanding – five stars!

The Ultimate 30 Awards recognised products that set a precedent for ingenuity and performance over the last 30 years. We don’t need to go that far back though – Series MX was given the 2017 award for its implementation of the Krix Infinite Baffle Wall and “groundbreaking” performance.
EXPERIENCE REALISM
For the movie lover with a small to medium size room, the MX-5 provides big sound in a small package, allowing versatility of installation without taking up valuable space. Boasting the Krix waveguide and large mid-bass driver, movie soundtracks will be delivered with the articulation and impact you’ve always wanted.
The MX-5 features five compact modules, allowing easy installation behind an acoustically transparent screen in a wall cavity, on a shelf or cabinetry, or below a projector screen. The front baffle of each module is covered with an acoustic absorbent material to absorb any sound reflecting off the back of the screen or the room itself. This assists greatly with the acoustic treatment of the room to ensure better intelligibility and overall sound performance.
The main speakers feature a 205mm mid-bass driver which has a 38mm voice coil wound on a high-powered aluminium former. The high frequency drive unit is a damped, high power, 26mm doped fabric dome tweeter, coupled with a proprietary Krix waveguide for optimum dispersion over the entire working bandwidth.
The subwoofer units feature 275mm (11”) drivers with 50mm edge-wound copper voice coil, dual spider assembly, and vented magnet assembly.
